Brooke always dreamed of finding her Prince Charming. She just hadn’t pictured Tinder as the place. Lewis, for his part, wasn’t one to be caught off guard easily, but when he half-jokingly suggested she fly to Sydney to meet him and she actually turned up the next morning, he knew. This was different.

She felt no nervous butterflies when she was with him. Only safety.

And Lewis, from the moment she showed up, confident, warm, and completely herself, he knew she was about to change the way he saw love forever.

A Yarra Valley Estate Wedding in Dixons Creek With a Whole Lot of Feeling

The day had the romantic, rustic feel Brooke had always pictured. Yarra Valley Estate does a lot on its own, but what filled the room was the people in it.

Some of them had come a long way. Lewis’s family made the trip from England, and you could feel that weight without anyone having to say it.

Brooke’s vows were raw. She spoke about feeling safe to fall for the first time. About Lewis leading her out of the dark. Finding a kind of love she hadn’t known to want

“You were from the other side of the world,” she told him. “We never should’ve met, but I like to think we would find each other in every lifetime.

Lewis had spent days on his words and couldn’t find them. Then he saw her, and they came.

He talked about love and what she’d changed in him. He promised her patience, and laughter, and more of himself every year, and to be there, still making her laugh, until they were old and grey.

When he finished, Brooke looked at him and said, “Promise me this is forever.”

Lewis answered: “I promise.”

The Moment We Will Remember The Most

For us, the vow exchange was the biggest moment of the day. It was part of the ceremony, yes, but they made it so intimate they might as well have been the only ones there. The rest of us just happened to be watching.

When their celebrant Shay announced Mr and Mrs Hall for the first time, the room exploded in cheers, and at least one guest who had already been reduced to tears before the bride even made her entrance. Which earned a perfectly timed: “You haven’t even started yet, what are you crying for?”

That set the tone for the entire wedding, really. Emotional, of course, but never too serious not to laugh.

Brooke and Lewis moved through the day like two people who knew exactly where they were supposed to be, surrounded by the people who had crossed suburbs, cities and ocean just to see them get there.

Brooke and Lewis. Thank you for letting us be in that room. We don’t take it for granted when couples let us witness something real, and we hope the coming years are filled with concerts and trips and ordinary Tuesdays and that one day, both of you are holding hands on some street somewhere, very old, very wrinkly, but still laughing.

If you’re planning a wedding at Yarra Valley Estate —or anywhere else out that way— tell us about it. The real bits. The people you want there, the venue you’ve always dreamed of, and the vows you’re already nervous about. We’d love to hear from you.
